Principal Gives Students A Day With No Homework For One Touching Reason

A Massachusetts principal has touched many with a letter encouraging parents to make the most of each day with their children.

Michael A. Caira, who has been principal at the Henry E. Warren School in Ashland, MA, since 2012, shared a thought-provoking email with his students’ parents on the third anniversary of the school shooting in Newton, CT. Like many in America, the massacre on Dec. 14, 2012 left an impact on him.

Part of his letter read: “My wish for all of you today is that you spend a little extra time with your children. Take a moment to remember that they will only be 6 once. Stop and be a kid with them tonight.”

He encouraged parents to simply spend the day with their little ones and made sure none of the teachers assigned any homework that day. Similarly to the teacher who launched a clothing bank for underprivileged students, Caira’s unexpected gesture didn’t go unnoticed by the parents.

One mom tweeted: “Thank you ‪@ClockerTalk for your beautiful words. Your dedication to our babies is evident every day – especially today.”

Another wrote, “TY for such a sensitive & bittersweet email today ‪@ClockerTalk. Cuddling my girl a little longer tonite [sic].”
